Aside from its being more hidden and tranquil compared to White Beach and Tamaraw Beach, another good thing about Talipanan Beach in Puerto Galera is Luca Cucina Italiana Restaurant & Pizzeria. Located literally at the end of the beach, they have a decent selection of Italian food, mainly pizza and pasta. The restaurant's architecture and design is simple - a big hut made of native materials with chairs and tables made of bamboo. Last time I was there was when a strong typhoon just passed, so they were in the process of doing some renovation. As it is by the sea shore, you can enjoy your food and perhaps a bottle of cold beer with sea views, the sound of the waves, sun and sand right in front of you. Menu (given the variety of pizza and pasta dishes they offer) and taste can pass as authentic Italian. For one, they have gnocchi (a must-try: rich, cheesy taste) which is quite hard to find even in Manila. The owner is an Italian national whose house is just on top of the restaurant, so that explains it. Seafood lovers should try their Mussels in White Wine and Garlic which is always a good beer match. Serving size is very generous considering the range of prices. A pasta dish and one whole pizza is good for three people, while two pasta dishes are more than enough for two people. Breakfast options are limited though. There are only a few restaurants in Talipanan Beach and they do not open as early as Luca's so the only option for early risers is probably to eat here. You can choose from sandwiches which are good because of the home-made bread and the cheese that they used (not the typical quick-melt cheese). They also have omelets and and crepes (I tried the chocolate crepe) but aside from that they do not have anything else to offer. The menu is Italian and probably they want to keep it that way (as they don’t really normally eat a big breakfast in Italy). A weekend at Talipanan beach is a good option as a quick weekend-escape from Manila. And thanks to Luca's, you can still enjoy good food during your stay in this beach despite its being secluded, but still within budget.
